Polar Apps is a small, family-run app studio just outside Oslo, Norway, crafting native iOS apps that make the sun, the moon, the sky and the air a little easier to understand — and a lot nicer to look at.
Each app does one thing beautifully — and every one is built natively for iPhone, iPad, and where it makes sense, Apple Watch.
The one weather metric your skin actually cares about, front and center — live UV, 7-day hourly forecasts, sunburn alerts, and vitamin D tracking synced to Apple Health.
A real-time, 3D-lit Moon that matches the sky outside — phases, moonrise and moonset, eclipse alerts, a full lunar calendar, and a Lunar Compass on your wrist.
The Sun's daily rhythm as a beautiful, spinnable solar disk — sunrise, sunset, day length, golden hour for photographers, and weather woven right into the dial.
See the air, not just the number — living particles reflect real conditions, with station-based AQI, pollutant breakdowns, 3-day forecasts, and Apple Watch complications.
Paper in, PDF and summary out — clean, searchable scans in seconds, summarized by AI that runs entirely on your device. No accounts, no ads, no data collected.
New ideas are always hibernating here. Check back soon.
Polar Apps is Bjørn Jenssen — an independent iOS developer just outside Oslo, Norway, where the summer evenings stretch on forever and the winter days are counted in hours of daylight. Living that far north makes you pay attention to the sky. The apps grew out of that.
Every line of code is Bjørn's, but Polar Apps is a family affair — his wife, Moa, is involved in everything around the apps except the development itself. The first of them, UV Index Widget, has been tracking the sun since 2016 and is used by people all over the world. Every app since follows the same recipe: pick one thing from nature, get the data right, and present it so beautifully you actually want to check it.
